Welcome to
Montgomery Teachers Federal Credit Union, a
member-owned financial cooperative where your
family's needs come first. Montgomery Teachers
FCU was started in 1961 to serve educators and
students in the Montgomery area. In the past
47 years, we have been
serving members with low-cost financial services
designed to help them enjoy a better way of life.
Last year, we expanded our charter to serve
members in a seven-county area around the
Capital City - Montgomery, Butler, Crenshaw,
Autauga, Elmore, Macon, and Lowndes. If you
live, work, study, or worship in any of these seven
counties, you may be eligible for membership in our
credit union.
On April 1, we will be changing our name to
Tri-Rivers Federal Credit Union to reflect our
new field of membership and this new chapter in our
history of serving the Central Alabama region.
Once a member, always a member - even if
you change jobs or move. Your credit union stays
with you a lifetime. The Montgomery Teachers Federal
Credit Union is here to serve all of your financial
needs.
Not for profit, but for service. Because Montgomery Teachers Federal Credit Union
is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our focus
has always been on service to members. Credit unions
provide the services members request. No need is too
big or too small.
One share, one vote. Each member has an equal vote in electing a
volunteer board of directors. Since there are no
stockholders, members receive higher rates on their
savings accounts, lower rates on loans, and lower
service fees.
Federally Insured: Your savings are
federally insured up to $100,000 by the National
Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), an arm
of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
The NCUA is an independent agency of the United
States Government.
How is a credit union different from a bank?
A credit union is a non-profit financial
cooperative. We're unique in that, unlike a bank, we
are mutually owned and governed by the members we
serve. Loyalty not to profits but to you, the
member, empowers your credit union to offer benefits
others can't - including fewer fees, lower loan
rates, and higher savings rates. And our guiding
principle of "People Helping People" translates to a
level of personal service you won't experience
anywhere else.
